If the heat index is over 105, we will 100% refund or you can also request a code to rebook at another date.
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand life happens!
If you cancel 48 hours in advance, you will get a full refund.
If you cancel 47-24 hours in advance, you'll receive a 50% refund. Under 24 hours in advance cancellation is considered a no show and you will be charged the full amount. We are a small fleet and need to ensure we have full sessions booked. Thank you for understanding!
Can I bring my kid to sit in a kayak with me?
Yes, you can. It will be an additional $5 for the life jacket rental unless you have your own. I kayaked with my 7 year old daughter sitting in front of me. It does get hot after awhile. You are in open water and there is not a spot to pull off and get out. You know your child best and if it's something they can tolerate. We have tow straps, so you could tie their kayak to yours and allow them to paddle as long as they want and then play with our water shooters or toys in their kayak. Again, you need to be able to trust them in their own kayak.
Can I jump out and swim?
No. Hovey Lake sits inside the Hovey Lake Fish and Wildlife Area, which is managed primarily for wildlife conservation and fishing. The lake supports fish, waterfowl, and other wildlife, and limiting swimming helps reduce disturbance to the habitat.
What happens if I tip over?
We will do a safety presentation on what to do if you tip, but watching this video will better prepare you. Keep in mind, this is calm water with little boat activity. You have to really TRY to tip one of our kayaks.
Do you have a weight limit?
YES! 275lb per kayak is the MAX weight limit. Do not try to push this limit. Your paddle experience will not be enjoyable and you'll end up wet. Don't forget to add your weight to your child's if you plan to have them sit with you!
I've never done this before. Can I be taught quickly?
Yes! We will teach you how to paddle efficiently, turn, and go backwards. We will assist you into your kayak and help push off.
What should I bring?
We provide the kayak, paddle, life jacket and dry bag. You should bring sunscreen, water, hat, sunglasses, bug spray just in case and excitement!
